# James L. Parrish — My Testimony

My name is James L. Parrish, and as I approach seventy years of life, I can look back and see the hand of God guiding me from the very beginning. I have been a Christian for as long as I can remember. Yet, like many believers, I spent much of my life chasing my own dreams—producing music, running businesses, and pursuing success. And in many ways, I achieved it.

But Jesus said in Matthew 16:24 (NLT):

“If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me.”

After decades of striving, I realized that I had never fully denied myself. I pursued what I wanted while failing to put Jesus first in every area of my life. I produced many songs throughout my career, but some of them no longer reflect who I am in Christ today. I have stepped away from those works as much as possible because they no longer represent the man God is shaping me to be.

Scripture reminds us in Psalm 90:10 (NLT):

“Seventy years are given to us! Some even live to eighty. But even the best years are filled with pain and trouble; soon they disappear, and we fly away.”

As I near this milestone, the Holy Spirit has started nudging my heart in a new direction—toward creating worship. Not just music for entertainment, but songs that glorify God… songs I would be honored to play in the very Throne Room of Heaven.

In these days of increasing knowledge and rapid change, I’m reminded of Daniel 12:4 (NLT):

“But you, Daniel, keep this prophecy a secret; seal up the book until the time of the end, when many will rush here and there, and knowledge will increase.”

Technology has advanced in ways previous generations never imagined. And so, I have chosen to create music that magnifies Jesus Christ and spreads the message of His Gospel.

Jesus prayed in John 17:17 (NLT):

“Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.”

I am only producing music that worships God now!  Most lyrics is drawn directly from the Holy Bible. My heart’s desire is simple: that these songs would be filled with God’s truth, blessed by His Spirit, and used for His glory alone.

I pray in Jesus’ name that every piece of music I create from this day forward will point people to Him, lift up His Word, and help draw souls closer to the Lord who saved me.

To God be all the glory.
